What is Order Management?

We stumbled upon our new Order Management service after hearing the frustration of ordering an Ikea kitchen from our clients. Are you familiar with purchasing things like furniture from Ikea? If you are then you know about all the boxes. Every piece is in it’s own box. Now when you purchase a kitchen from Ikea there are literally hundreds of boxes. And since covid there have been all kinds of global supply problems. For some reason Ikea has been hit extra hard.

There once was a time when you went into an Ikea, purchased your kitchen and the entire kitchen was there. You brought it home and started assembling it that day. Those days are long gone. Now when you go to purchase your kitchen maybe 75% of it is there for you take home. And yes, you have to take it home that day or have it delivered. You purchase what is in stock and then you are handed a couple different pieces of paper with all the items that are not in stock. You see the picture above with the order information, that’s all the out of stock items for one kitchen. And now you are on your own to check online, everyday to see if any of your items have arrived, then make multiple trip to Ikea to pick up these stragglers. So while you find a spot to safely store all of these boxes somewhere in your home, you get the privilege of obsessing over the Ikea website for the next month or two waiting for the rest of kitchen to arrive. And you better click and collect those items because by the time you get to the store they could be sold out before the doors even open, it’s happened to me. Its complicated for me and I do it all the time. It can get really frustrating if you have never done it before.
